INRI Interpretation clarifications

In my book, A Rose Croix Oratory (2023), I provided some esoteric interpretations and uses for the acronym INRI. Some of them should have been accompanied by footnotes that I failed to include in the final draft. This post offers those explanatory comments.

In Neci Renascor Integer: This version is first explained on page 286 (301 in Kindle edition) as meaning “‘In death, one is reborn intact and pure.’ It is an invitation for awareness of our mortality and for ego-death….” More literally, it may be translated as “In death I am reborn entirely.” Yet the word integer also carries the meanings of whole, fresh, perfect, complete, and so on. My published interpretation also moves from the literal first-person singular (I) to the third-person singular (one). This change is meant to add a depersonalizing quality, thereby amplifying the esoteric meaning.

Intra Nobis Regnum IHVH: Literally, this means “the kingdom of IHVH is within us.” On page 295 (311), I wrote, “In this version of INRI, the Tetragrammaton is acknowledged to be the presence of the Living Word of God, the Logos, within each of us….” In the glossary, p. 359 (370), I offered, “within us reigns Jehova,” which is less literal and carries less of an implication that the authority of the Tetragrammaton is not limited to being within us.

Ieshuah Nascente Rosa Innovatur: “Yeshuah ascending renews the rose” is how I rendered this on page 302 (320). However, a literal translation could be “Yeshuah’s birth renews the rose,” or “with the birth of Yeshuah the rose is renewed.” From an esoteric view, this birth is not restricted to the physical delivery of an historical person, but to the birth, emergence, or ascendance in one’s consciousness of what is represented by the Pentagrammaton, IHShVH.

I hope these notes resolve any confusion that might exist.
